Walk into a busy cafe with a question and watch what you do next: you scan the room for the person who looks in charge. If nobody reads as the leader, the guest hesitates, the complaint waits, the special request never gets made. A well-planned uniform system answers that question before it is asked.

For Elgin Cafe, Amritsar, we designed a manager's uniform that leads quietly: a tailored shirt in warm beige with a structured vest over it, finished with the cafe's crest. It is unmistakably part of the same family as the floor team's attire, yet clearly a step above it. Guests find the decision-maker in one glance; the team gets a visual reminder of the ladder they can climb.

A uniform system is an org chart guests can read from across the room.

The three-layer rule for uniform hierarchies

  • Same palette, rising formality. Keep every role in one colour story, then add structure as seniority rises: tee, then shirt, then vest or blazer. Elgin's beige-and-olive scheme does exactly this.
  • Change one garment, not the whole look. A vest, a contrasting apron or a collar upgrade signals rank without splitting the brand into costumes.
  • Give leaders tailoring, not just titles. Managers stand at the door, greet guests and handle the tough conversations. A fitted silhouette earns those moments.
  • Badge the names, not just the roles. A name badge turns an authority figure into a person guests can ask for by name, and ask for again on the next visit.

Built with the same care below decks

The same project dressed Elgin's wider team, from service staff to kitchen, the way we did across town for Greko Espresso Bar. Fabrics were chosen for Punjab summers, embroidery matched across every garment, and the full set arrived together, ready for the floor.

Give your floor a leader guests can see

If your managers dress like everyone else, you are hiding your most useful people. Explore the uniforms catalogue or tell us about your team on WhatsApp, and our design team will map a uniform hierarchy for every role you run.
