Fresh from the Oven: Dressing a Bakery in Maroon Tees & Brown Aprons

Walk into a good bakery and the colours do half the storytelling: burnt sugar, toasted crust, chocolate, cream. When a patisserie client asked us for uniforms, we simply borrowed the palette from their display counter: deep maroon tees the colour of a glazed cherry, and aprons in warm caramel brown.

The tees carry the brand’s embroidered crest on the chest, and the back gets the line that makes every customer grin: “Don’t rush me, I am caramelising.” Over it goes a brown canvas apron with adjustable straps and a stitched crest, equal parts workbench and window display. The set photographs like a croissant ad, which is exactly the point.

What bakery uniforms have to survive

Patisserie work is gentler than a tandoor line but messier than a coffee bar: flour dust, butter, glazes, oven heat at 4 a.m. Our bakery kits are built around that reality:

  • Darker, warmer tones: maroons, browns and charcoals hide flour and chocolate between washes far better than whites and pastels.
  • Heavier tee fabric with a soft hand, premium feel at the counter, sturdy through industrial laundering.
  • Canvas aprons with real coverage, bib cuts, deep pockets for thermometers and scrapers, and straps that don’t dig during long prep shifts.
  • Embroidery over prints for crests, it survives oven-adjacent life and reads as craft, which is the brand promise of every good bakery.
A bakery sells patience, slow proofs, slow bakes, slow mornings. The uniform should look like it was made with the same care as the bread.

One look, every station

The same palette flexes across roles: full aprons for bakers, half aprons for counter staff, and matching caps or name badges for the front of house. Add wooden menu boards and coasters in the same tones, and the whole shop feels art-directed, because it is.
