Wooden Menus: The Small Upgrade Your Guests Actually Notice

Guests hold your menu longer than they hold anything else in your restaurant, longer than the door handle, the glassware, sometimes even the cutlery. It's a minute or two of undivided attention, twice per table. Most restaurants hand over a laminated sheet. The smart ones hand over a first impression.
These handcrafted wooden menus, cut, engraved and finished in our New Delhi workshop, are what that first impression looks like: warm grain, solid weight, a brass clip holding the day's specials. Clip a coffee list, a wine list or a chef's tasting; swap the insert whenever the kitchen changes its mind. The board stays; the story updates.
Paper vs MDF vs wood: an honest comparison
- Paper menus are the right call when your menu changes weekly, for QSRs, and as inserts inside boards and folders. Lowest cost, fastest turnaround. We print them in-house alongside everything else.
- MDF menus hit the sweet spot of price and polish: crisp full-colour printing, respectable heft, great for cafes and casual dining. Our MDF boards, trays and bill holders are workhorses across hundreds of tables.
- Solid wood menus are the premium play, engraved, stained and built to age gracefully. Perfect for bars, breweries and fine-dine rooms where the menu should feel like furniture, not stationery. Rustic for a courtyard cafe, dark-stained for a speakeasy.
A menu is the only marketing your guest reads with full attention. Make the medium worthy of the message.
Details that separate handcrafted from mass-made
What we've learned engraving menus for clients like 48 Plates and The Sunday House: rounded corners survive service, matte sealants resist fingerprints and spills, clip mechanisms should be brass or powder-coated (never bare mild steel), and engraving depth matters: too shallow disappears in dim lighting, too deep collects grime. These are small decisions; guests feel them without knowing why.
Complete the table
Wooden menus work best in company: cork coasters, MDF trays, tent cards and QR stands in matching finishes make the whole table feel art-directed.
